Cost to obtain franchise: $50,000
Initial franchise fee: $90,000-$145,300 total investment
Before opening franchise: I was a turnaround CEO for high-tech companies and struggling organizations.
Reason for opening:
I had always wanted to have my own business, and I knew that I probably wouldn't find another job that would keep me in R.I., so I decided to buy my own business. I looked at several private businesses and franchises and settled on Cartridge World because of its unique nature. I liked that there is a B2B and B2C component. You can offer services and products to the general public, but there's also a large B2B part of Cartridge World, which was intriguing to me.
"One of the main reasons I got into this concept was the fact that it is one of the few businesses where consumers and businesses can recycle and save money. Recycling usually costs more, but with Cartridge World, we reuse the empty ink, laser or toner and remanufacture it in a consistent, high-quality way to save the end user up to 40 percent. Empty cartridges last forever in a landfill and are petroleum based, so reuse is a no-brainer."
"We are your one-stop shop for all home and office printing, scanning and copying. We want to help businesses spend more time growing and less time worrying about the high cost of these services. We don't go in with a one-size-fits-all option, and we aren't trying to push an agenda. We're trying to help our customers figure out what equipment and supplies they need to reduce the overall cost of printing."
"A big part of business is the supplies. We manufacture supplies for copiers, printers, fax machines and scanning devices. We also do office supplies and document shredding. Additionally, we do electronic waste recycling for our customers – taking back old printers and retired technology/hazardous waste. With our retail locations, home users can come in for refills or remanufactured products for 30-40 percent less than big-box stores or original products."
